This was a helpful read. It makes me think of the difference between having a beat on a daily newspaper, or being a general reporter. When you have a beat, you build a following interested in that subject. They get to know you, your writing, and seek out your work. When you're a generalist, writing random stuff every day, you get lost in the shuffle of available information. Thank you.
